Kilmarnock & District Directory, 1939-42

Kilmarnock & District Directory, 1939-42

Ref: AYR1939U

(Supplied on a CD) Unusually for these directories, the map has survived. This means that the directory is complete and comprises: General (Alphabetical) Directory; Kilmarnock Rural Directory; Street Directory; Business Directory; District Directory; General Rural Directory; Gentlemen's Residences; Public Offices, Clubs, Institutions &c; Advertisements throughout.
When we obtained the directory, the town map was in four pieces, having become separated along folds. There were also minor tears. Happily the damage was repairable with very minor loss of detail. The map is too large to scan in a single piece on an A3 scanner. It has, therefore, been scanned as three overlapping which have also been stitched together. All three scans plus the stitched version of the map have been included on the CD.

Includes: Catrine, Craigie, Crosshouse, Cunninghamhead, Darvel, Dreghorn, Drybridge, Dundonald, Dunlop, Fenwick (with Waterside), Galston, Gatehead, Hurlford (with Crookedholm), Irvine, Kilmaurs, Lugton (with Halket), Mauchline, Newmilns (with Greenholm), Sorn, Springside, Stewarton, Symington, Tarbolton (with Annbank & Stair), Trabboch.

Some of the scanned pages appear not to be straight and/or warped and some of the scanned text is close to a page edge. These are features of the original book rather than the scanning process.
