Aberdeen Almanac, 1839

Although termed an Almanac this book is also an early directory, most of its 300+ pages listing people holding an office or following a trade. It has eight sections, being: The Kalendar (including Principal Fairs and Corn Markets); Useful Tables (including Post Towns & Postmasters, Stage Coaches and Carriers to & from Aberdeen); The British Empire (including Peers etc., Members of Parliament, Naval & Army officers); Scotland (including Peers etc. and members of Ecclesiastical, Legal, Educational & Military Establishments etc.); City & County of Aberdeen (including members of Establishments & Institutions and principal inhabitants of Kintore, Inverury, Oldmeldrum, Turriff, Huntly, Peterhead & Fraserburgh); County of Banff (including Office Holders & Freeholders and principal inhabitants of Banff, Macduff, Portsoy, Cullen, Keith & Fochabers); County of Elgin or Moray (including Office Holders and principal inhabitants of Elgin); County of Kincardine (including Office Holders and principal inhabitants of Stonehaven, Bervie & Laurencekirk). Some of the scanned pages appear not to be straight and/or printed very close to the edge. This is a feature of the original book rather than the scanning process.
